Dear All
As you are aware 2007 saw the launch of a new event on the London social calendar: The London Gathering.
The London Gathering was a dream that was brought to life through the dedication of a small group of people and prominent partners who saw the value and shared the passion and vision of that dream. Our goal was to bring to light the massive and positive changes that are happening all over Scotland by celebrating and exploring the best of contemporary and modern Scotland and sharing the very best and brightest elements of the Scottish Culture with the masses. The event was a huge success and this is in no small part due to the commitment and support of our Sponsors and Partners, not forgetting the dedicated and experienced musicians, performers, dancers, authors, and chefs, who made the event what it was.
We genuinely believe in the merit and concept of The London Gathering and want to deliver the event every year to the same exceptional standard as in year one, and to an ever-growing audience of course!
In 2008 however, due to extreme venue congestion, and an uncompromising view to the standard to which we would like the event to proceed we have decided to postpone the event until Spring/Summer 2009. Rest assured that the TLG team stand by their desire to promote all the fine things that Scotland has to offer and our team are continuing all their efforts in brining The London Gathering back - bigger and better and we would like to thank everyone for their continuing support and interest. We do however look forward to seeing you in and around London supporting all the other good Scottish organisations and events and we are still here to listen to ideas and opinions on our future events so please e-mail or call us.
Yours Aye
Yours sincerely
Scot Gardiner
Managing Director

On February 7th Scot Gardiner, MD of The London Gathering had the honour of presenting a cheque to Roslyn Neely, Director of Fundraising for Childern’s Hospice Association of Scotland in their Glasgow offices. £4300.00 was raised at the event for our 2007 Charity of Choice, CHAS.
The money was raised primarily through a silent auction which included a one of a kind version of photographic book, “A Sense of Belonging to Scotland” by Andy Hall in which Mr. Hall spent a year collecting signatures from each of the celebrities in the book and the William Wallace Claymore, originally commissioned for the movie Braveheart starring Mel Gibson.
Giving back to the community which we are helping to celebrate is an important part of our vision and we look forward to being able to donate even more as our event grows in the coming years!

November 2007
With year one firmly under our belts The London Gathering team is laying the plans for an even bigger and better year two in 2008.
Check back often for updates on our progress for year two.

The London Gathering is pleased to announce that The London Scottish Regiment Pipes and Durms will be at hand to help us create a truly Scottish experience for all.

The London Scottish Pipes and Drums.
The London Scottish Regiment is a TA Regiment that was founded in 1859 by Lord Elcho (later the Earl of Wemyss and March), and have their Headquarters in Horseferry Road, Westminster. Members of the regiment have served in every theatre of war that the British Army has been involved in since and continues to the current day with three companies deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The London Scottish Regiment's Pipes and Drums was founded in 1860 when there was a Pipe Major and five pipers. During the two world wars, the three battalions had their own Pipes & Drums bands which then reverted to just one during peacetime.
The P&Ds participate in many events, ranging from regimental and public duties, films and recordings, to private events and competitions in the UK and abroad. This year they have played in Gibraltar, Spain, Holland, France, Belgium, and played a major part in the Household Divisions Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade in June. The band is made up of musicians who are serving TA soldiers and associated civilian members.
They appear here today with kind permission of Colonel Stephen Henwood TD, Regimental Colonel.

We have been out and about supporting our friends and promoting The Gathering and last week everyone was talking about us on BBC Radio Londons' late show when Tessa Dunlop interviewed our own Scot Gardiner for an hour on the show. It was an entertaining live phone in and thanks to our friends at Albannach in Trafalgar Square, there was no small amount of The Balvenie single barrel 15 year old being enjoyed in the studio.
On Friday night in Richmond, at the home of London Scottish Football Club, we added a touch of glamour to the London Scottish v London Irish challenge match. While the less said about the result the better (well played Irish) it was a chance for the players and fans alike to get to know more about the Gathering and at the same time, Nick Evans of London Scottish was able to showcase the brand new kit for the season.
